Don Bosco 2000: today the arrival in Tambacounda. A dispensary for the future, at the end of a journey of over 6,000 km
Yesterday, Wednesday 9 April, at 5 pm local time in Senegal (7 pm in Italy), our volunteers Agostino Sella and Marco Canzonieri arrived in Tambacounda after an extraordinary journey: over 6,000 kilometers by motorcycle, from Palermo to the heart of Africa, to bring a gift that will change the life of an entire community.
The president of Don Bosco 2000, Agostino Sella, together with Marco Canzonieri, and other traveling companions, arrived today in Tambacounda, the last stage of a journey that has crossed deserts, savannahs, villages, cities and stories. A path made possible by the solidarity of hundreds of people who believed in a dream: to build a medical dispensary to offer treatment and health care to those who have none.
A festive welcome at the entrance to Tambacounda with a parade of motorcycles and cars, all waiting for the two volunteers.
“This is where a new story begins,” said Sella. “A story made of health, hope and dignity for many Senegalese families. We are tired, but happy. Because every kilometer traveled had a deep meaning. Because every look we encountered reminded us of the meaning of this journey.”
The initiative has already raised about 43,000 euros in donations: a result that testifies to how much the project is felt and shared, there is still a lot of work to be done, but this piece is the starting point of a new story for this community.
For Don Bosco 2000 is not just a goal, but the beginning of a new journey alongside the most fragile people, with the style of Don Bosco and the strength of those who believe that solidarity can really change the world.
